The Shield: While it may not be a substitute for a specialized helmet, the Tribe Surf Shield Hat can provide a degree of impact protection, guarding against accidental bumps or collisions in the surf, knocks from surfboards or scrapes on the reef bottom. The shield is made from a flexible lightweight polypropylene material engineered to have good impact resistance that will not break or crack. This material will help absorb and distribute the force of impacts, reducing the risk of injury to the head. The inner crown of the shield also has a layer of closed cell foam padding on the crown designed to absorb the energy of these low-impact collisions and to give you some extra comfort.

Sun Protection: With its optimal width of 2.4 inches, the brim has the perfect balance — providing ample protection without compromising your visibility during surfing. Shielding your face and neck from the intense UPF 50+ UV sun rays, it ensures you stay cool and protected, even on those long tropical surf vacations. What's more, the brim is designed to flip up at the front, allowing you to carve those turns and ride those barrels with an unobstructed view. Comes in black or grey (both have black underside to help prevent reflection).

Comfort: Complemented by foam padding on the crown of the shield, our hat features a soft breathable nylon waterproof fabric. This lightweight hat has strategically placed vents for waterflow, airflow and breathability while sitting on your board, riding waves or duck diving.
