Tribe Reale Deal 5.0 Bodyboard
In my constant quest for refining my shapes to make the perfect prone/DK combo board for all water temperatures and wave types, I give you the Reale Deal 5.0. Since I started bodyboarding in 1979, my goal has always been the "one board quiver". I don't want to have to decide what to ride from day to day; I want to ride one board that works in anything. The Reale Deal 5.0 is the current version of that.
1.2pcf low-density "Flex" core combined with two layers of mesh (top and bottom) work in concert with the 1/2 stringer to keep the board nice and rigid from the midpoint to the tail, with a perfect amount of flex in the upper half for more precise carves and barrel scoops. Because I dropknee about 50% of the time, I am not a fan of flat boards. I like some kick in the nose, so the 5.0 adds in some extra nose rocker for those late DK drops or just to help initiate high-speed carves in any riding position. I've also thinned out the board and narrowed the template a touch for a more responsive ride.
